Policy & Standards

The Institute for Humane Robotics' Policy & Standards work shapes governance frameworks and technical standards, including IEEE P7027, for robots that interact with people.

Overview

Why policy & standards matters now.

The rules for household and care robots are being written now. We contribute evidence, drafting, and cross-cultural perspective so those rules protect people without freezing progress, and so the companies building responsibly are not disadvantaged.

Who it’s for
Standards bodies, regulators, legislators, and companies preparing for compliance.
  • Standards informed by evidence and by practice in Japan and the US.
  • Companies that know what is coming and are ready for it.
  • Rules that protect what makes us human.
